Halloween

It has been a long time. I haven't been able to put up pictures for a while because of lack of a camera and internet access. It is finally time to post again. Here are a few pictures from the Halloween party. This is Harijot Dressed up as Charlie Chaplain. He did really good. Satshabad as John Lennon. He did good too. Me as Rocco from Boondock Saints. This is the coolest picture of Harijot. Also the best picture that I took from Halloween. Rocco Shooting Charlie. Harisimran and Harijot fighting. They did an act together for Halloween. A monochrome version of the original. Makes it cool looking. Another Picture of Harijot. There were more pictures from Halloween, but these were probably the best and most artistic.

The first post

Well, this is my first post. I do photography as a hobby, and I really like it. I don't have an SLR, but I will get one eventually. I am using a 5MP Samsung point and shoot. Because of that, I only have so much control over aperture and shutter speed, and therefore don't know much about it yet. I do know some about composition though. I can take people pictures, but they aren't what I really like to take. My main interest is in outdoor photography, particularly landscapes and macro photography. I definitely like sunsets. For this post I will put up a few pictures that I have taken recently that show what I really like to take. This really shows why it is so great to live in New Mexico. Every now and then, which is really often, you get a great sunset. The only problem with this picture is the unavoidable telephone pole. This is another picture that really shows New Mexico. Sometimes you will get a dark raincloud in the background, with something in front that still catches the sun. It makes this great contrast between light and dark. The water also adds to the picture. It is amazing how something like an annoying little weed can seem interesting when shot close up. That is what I like about macro photography.

Simplicity is the key to life. You can make an interesting composition out of the simplest of things.

This was an interesting composition. You couldn't call it nature photography because it is not in a natural setting, and yet it is natural because of what it is. It is just a pumous stone and some burrs, shot in front of a white background.

Another macro shot of an insect. I was waiting for a while for a bee to land on the flower. They were flying all around this patch of flowers, and I was hoping one wouldn't sting me while I waited there. I was lucky.

Another flower picture. This is an herb called Echinacea. This same small plant has been in the same place for years. There are no other similar plants around, and yet every year it blooms one flower. I was surprised to even see it was still here.

There is nothing special about this picture itself. What is interesting is the things in it. Those are some origami sculptures that I made. Another hobby of mine.

This is the last photo for now. I really like shooting landscapes in late day or early morning, because of the interesting shadows the angle of light creates. This is not the nicest example of that, but it gives the general idea.
